Newcastle are interested in signing Arsenal winger Amario Cozier-Duberry on a free transfer at the end of the season, according to the Evening Standard.

The 18-year-old, who has been compared to Bukayo Saka, has less than six months left on his contract with the Gunners and he has yet to sign a new deal.

Negotiations between Cozier-Duberry’s current club and his advisors are ongoing but no agreement over an extension has been reached yet.

The Magpies are believed to be keeping an eye on the teenager’s situation, but they won’t be the only club competing for his signature this summer.

The Standard report that, in addition to Newcastle, Borussia Dortmund, Ajax and Belgian club Anderlecht are keeping apprised of talks between Arsenal and the player.

If it becomes clear that negotiations have stalled, it’s expected that all four teams will make proposals to Cozier-Duberry. The Magpies would probably be most concerned with the competition from Dortmund.

The Bundesliga side have an excellent track record in helping young English players, having given chances to the likes of Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham.

Cozier-Duberry has not been able to make his breakthrough at Arsenal

The teenager has made the substitutes bench for eight first-team games across the last two seasons but manager Mikel Arteta has yet to hand him his debut.

Cozier-Duberry has continued to impress for Arsenal’s Under 21, having also played against senior opposition in the EFL Trophy against Northampton, Stevenage and Swindon Town over the past 15 months.

The winger has received praise from Under 18 head coach Jack Wilshere, who said the player “reminded” him of Saka but, to make the same impact as the current England international, Cozier-Duberry may have to leave the Emirates in search of first-team opportunities and Newcastle is seemingly one potential destination.
