Who Is The Best Manager In The Premier League This Season?

The 2022/23 season in the Premier League has been a strange one for managers. Some highly-regarded names, like Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp, have underperformed. Others, such as Thomas Frank and Marco Silva, have excelled – despite the odds being against both of them.

Erik ten Hag has had a big impact at Man Utd but they have not been as consistent as Newcastle United. However, we feel there is one head coach who is head and shoulders above the rest – you guessed it, it’s Newcastle United’s mastermind – Eddie Howe.

What Howe has achieved at Newcastle this season simply cannot be overstated. Yes, we all knew the Toon would be on the ascendency after the takeover – but did anyone expect them to be this good so soon?

The former Bournemouth man resisted the urge to bring in established talents – instead, he opted to bring in lesser-known players, so as not to saturate the dressing room with egos. So far, his strategy has worked a treat. Not only do the Magpies have a great squad at their disposal, they also have a fantastic team spirit and understanding.

This season, Howe has lost just three Premier League games at the Newcastle helm. A top-four finish looks to be on the cards – additionally, he also guided the Magpies to their first cup final since 1999.

Of course, Howe isn’t the only manager to have had an impressive season this year. There is the small matter of Mikel Arteta, who is in the process of guiding Arsenal to their first Premier League title since 2004.

However, there is one major factor in Howe’s favour. Arteta has been building a long-term project at Arsenal – he has been in place since 2019. Howe, on the other hand, has had less than two years to develop his squad so far.

To us, this is why Eddie Howe is the best manager in the Premier League at this current moment. He has built a successful team – and he has done it astonishingly quickly.
