Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has included Alexander Isak in his official Premier League Team of the Week.
The Swedish international started ahead of Callum Wilson against Wolves at the weekend and he duly delivered by getting on the scoresheet with a well-taken headed goal.
It was a finish that Shearer would have been proud of himself and Isak will hope he can now kick on from here. He has scored four goals in nine Premier League appearances but it’s been an injury-plagued first season at St James’ Park.
In terms of the rest of the team, Shearer selected Southampton’s Gavin Bazunu in goal, with his teammate Kyle Walker-Peters at right-back. Everton’s James Tarkowski, Arsenal centre-back Gabriel and Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell made up the rest of the back four.
Bournemouth winger Dango Ouattara, Arsenal pair Martin Odegaard & Leandro Trossard and Manchester City’s Rodri were chosen in midfield, while Shearer picked Harry Kane to partner Isak up front.
